Although cotton does not require very large amounts of nutrients , it requires systematic fertilization , ensuring satisfactory production and good quality strings . The need for fertilization due to the fact that the roots system of cotton is column looking without good use of soil fertility . First place in the fertilization of cotton covers nitrogen , which increases the development of the plant , the production of the fruit , weight and quality of the seed . But over- fertilization with nitrogen in the late period should be avoided because it encourages vegetation and reduces the growth of the fetus . Phosphorus increases weight , oil content , protein quality of the seed and the strings . Potassium improves endurance and length of the strings and contributes to early aging . Also plants are more resilient during drought and disease . Besides the three nutrients in acid soils, it needs the addition of magnesium . Cotton is quite sensitive to the lack of micronutrient elements , boron and zinc .

Suggestions for fertilization

Adding nitrogen with appropriate dosing is the rule. Phosphorus and potassium should participate in fertilizing of cotton , even when the soil samples show a sufficient amount of nutrients , so that the soil fertility doesn’t decreas. Enriched compound fertilizers from ELFE cover then needs of magnesium , boron and zinc . Primary composite fertilizer is evenly crossing the appropriate machine and meets the depth of 8-10 cm . But a portion ( 25 % ) is useful to put a line at short distance from the seed , because it contributes to rapid sprouting and development of plants in the early period . Surface nitrogen fertilizer is applied after the appearance of lines , the intersection before blooming . It requires soil moisture to avoid loss of ammonia .
